Aside from her recently-launched book, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles had also been busy composing the music for the upcoming Waitress musical, which is scheduled to have its run starting April 24, 2016. I heard of this new song from John Mayer’s instagram post.
Today, she has released the music video of one of the most memorable songs from Waitress, entitled, “She Used To Be Mine”. It’s a well-written and sublime piece of music! Sara’s vocals soared as it’s complemented by the subtle, yet powerful piano melody. It was just right to highlight the impactful lyrics of the song. Check out her music video:
Sara will be performing the single, along with the other songs she composed for the musical this coming November 5th at the New York City Center as a special album release show for her upcoming album, “What’s Inside: Songs from Waitress.” Man, if only I could go there!! But either way, thank you for this awesome song Sara!
I’ve been following Sara Bareilles closely and if I’m not mistaken, there’s a new record coming up (or at least that’s what she implies from her Instagram posts :p)! Moreover, she has also published her new book “Sounds Like Me: My Life (So Far) in Song” where she shares her life as an artist, her compilation of essays, and stories behind some of the songs she wrote, giving her fans a sneak peek into her process of creating her compositions.
You can pre-order her book by clicking the image below:
That’s it for me, *pre-orders book* ’till the next post! 🙂

I shared some of these cool songs.. just because I think Valentine’s Day is not just about couples, but also for those who are searching and waiting for true love. :3
7. Love Song For No One – John Mayer
This one from Mayer’s first album accurately depicts those singles out there who can’t wait to find someone. 🙂
6. Hold My Heart – Sara Bareilles
I consider this song as one of my life’s soundtrack songs. This emotional and powerful piano ballad highlighted Sara’s amazing vocal ability. The song speaks about having a longing for someone who could be right for us.
5. Everybody’s Got Somebody But Me – Hunter Hayes feat. Jason Mraz
This light-hearted acoustic number demonstrates the struggles of a single (especially on Valentine’s!!!) person in a cheerful and funny way.. 😉 I don’t know how they managed to make the song sound so happy.. haha!

All of us music enthusiasts have our own personal music heroes (I know you do). And here I would like to just list my women music heroes (of course I have others :P), because I would just love to share them to you, especially for those who don’t know them yet.
Just a little disclaimer: A lot of video links ahead. 😉
6. Armi Millare
Known as the vocalist and keyboardist of the Filipino band Up Dharma Down, this super talented artist captured music fans with her unique voice quality and artistry. Some of their most famous songs are “Oo”, “Tadhana” and “Luna”. The band categorized their music as electronic, experimental and post rock. Check out some of their music below.
5. Kitchie Nadal
Formerly, she was the vocalist of the Filipino band, Mojofly. But it was her solo hit song, “Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin”, which became the most played song in the Philippines last 2009, that really launched her music career. She also had other hits like “Bulong” and “Same Ground“. Then last 2013, she released her latest album “Malaya”.
This first song has that pop ballad feel to me,
while this one is more like a folk, indie sound.
